In June 2025, the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) published its latest Grant Approval Report for the Leibniz-Association. The report highlights also the success of the Leibniz-Institut für Kristallzüchtung (IKZ), which is listed on pages 132 and 133 with over 20 approved DFG projects.
As a result, the number of active DFG-funded projects at IKZ in 2025 has grown to more than 20 - representing a significant increase compared to the institute’s last evaluation period, when only around 8 projects were active in 2018.
Most of the DFG funding at IKZ supports PhD positions. Currently, the institute hosts about 35 PhD students. This allows the IKZ to play an active role in educating young scientific talents for future careers.
Following successful completion of their PhD theses, IKZ graduates typically pursue careers in science or industry. Other common paths include consulting and science-related administration.
